How do I Send a Message on Facebook?
Want to send a message to your friends on Facebook, but don’t know how? Here are simple steps to help you send messages through your Facebook Inbox and other helpful tips for sending messages in Facebook.

- Type the person’s name into the Search box at the upper right of any Page. When the search results are returned, click on the “Send a Message” link to the right of the result. A box will open to type in the subject and message. When finished, click “Send.”
- Open the Inbox and click on “Compose“ the same box will open to type the specifics of your message
- To learn how to send a private message on Facebook, visit my YouTube Channel to view a short video where I walk you through the entire process.
Here are other tips to help with sending messages on Facebook:
- You can message up to 20 friends per message
- If you have a Group or Fan Page, you can send to all of your Group Members or Fans with one message
- Users can receive messages from anyone on Facebook, regardless if you are friends or not. To avoid this, go to Settings/Privacy/Search and under “Search Result Content” uncheck the box for “A link to send me a message.”
- Photos, videos and links can be attached to messages
- The Inbox is not intended for “live” conversations. The Chat option can be used for instant messaging others on Facebook
- Be careful of promoting a product or service or any type of advertising to your friends through the Inbox as it is considered spam and against Facebook policies
- The Inbox has search features for finding messages by sender, keywords, recipients or Friend Lists
- You can manage your Inbox notifications by going to Settings/Account Settings/ Notifications. Here you can select which information you would like to see in your Personal Email Account. For example, if you use Microsoft Outlook for your email management, you will receive an email each time you get a message in your Facebook Inbox. You can uncheck this notification to stop those emails from going to Outlook.
The Facebook Inbox is a great communication tool when used properly. It is just another alternative for connecting with your online friends and business contacts.

They have a database of more than 500,000 articles and videos and over 26 million people visit this site each month. Wow, what I would give to have that kind of traffic!
You can also write your own “How To” articles and submit them to the site.
They have advertising opportunities available, but the site is completely free to use! That’s my favorite price!
So check it out and let me know what you think.

Electronic Fundraising for Nonprofits
I had the great pleasure of being the special guest of Sandy Rees, CFRE on her Get Fully Funded Support Club call today. We had an awesome discussion on how to utilize the many tools on the Internet for raising funds for nonprofit organizations.
Some of the topics we discussed were:
- Have an engaging and informative Website
- Make it Easy for People to Donate
- Utilize a Blog to stay connected to your donors more frequently
- Keep the Blog short, simple and conversational
- Develop an electronic newsletter/ezine
- Do NOT make a PDF of your print newsletter and call it an ezine!
- Take advantage of the wide world of Social Media
- Use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to promote events and accept donations.
Sandy is a fundraising coach, speaker and master trainer and has a wealth of knowledge to assist nonprofits in reaching their fundraising goals. She also has programs designed to engage nonprofit boards and manage a small nonprofit on a shoestring budget.
Copywriting Training for Social Media
Social Media Marketing Success in 2009 & Beyond…
No matter what your business, no matter what product, service or expertise you are selling, you need the right words to sell. Of course, in this “Web 2.0” world, there are so many places and platforms that need relevant and persuasive words – blogs, press releases, Squidoo lenses, articles, newsletters and bios/profiles for Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, to name a few.
Many successful marketers will tell you that copywriting – the ability to put what you are selling into words that actually sell – is the #1 most important skill to have in marketing. And this is true now more than ever.
No more spinning your wheels in your current online and social media marketing efforts…
Learn how to tweak and master your social message so that you have more business than you ever imagined…
Conquer the fears you have about using social media as a marketing tool…
Become a profitable content creation and distribution machine…easily and quickly.
My colleagues Craig Cannings of VAClassroom and Allison Nazarian of Get It In Writing have teamed up to present something that simply does not exist anywhere in the online training world. They saw an amazing opportunity to teach other entrepreneurs and professionals a very specific and easy-to-follow system to launch and profit from — their own “Content Creation and Distribution Machine!” In the world of social media, and social marketing in particular, your credibility, your visibility and your reputation are the measures of your success. And the key to being able to shine in social media lies in the words businesses use to have the conversations they are having.
Craig and Allison – and I – invite you to take advantage of this live, 5-week interactive training. This is an event you don’t want to miss – the “secret weapon” so many successful marketers have and use can (and should) be yours too.

WordPress…TV?
Did I read that correctly? WordPress is so big now that that have their own TV show?
Well, not really, they have developed an online learning center called wordpress.tv
It’s chocked full of tutorials for both self-hosted and WordPress.com sites. They call it “a visual resource for all things WordPress!”
I LOVE that. I’m a visual person and I learn much quicker if I can see it done rather that read how to do it.
So grab a snickers and a soda and watch wordpress.tv.
Simple, Practical and Easy Fundraising Tips
Wouldn’t it be great if someone could help all those struggling non-profit organizations with their fundraising program? Just to find someone who understands their needs and can offer a simple plan for meeting and exceeding their goals?
Well, I know of just a person. She is an incredible teacher, coach, mentor and Master Trainer for non-profit fundraisers and I have the privilege of working with her as her virtual assistant. She is Sandy Rees, Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and one of 125 Master Trainer’s in the world for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
Typically, as a virtual professional I don’t leave the “virtual office” very often, however, I have had the opportunity to travel with Sandy recently to other AFP chapters in the South and watch her in action. To say she is awesome, is truly an understatement. She is captivating, funny, knowledgeable, engaging and right-on with her information. People comment as they walk away from her training sessions that they can’t wait to get back to the office and implement the ideas Sandy gave them. Now just how many times have you been anxious to get back to the office?
This is me at Sandy’s table at the Chattanooga Center for Nonprofits Philanthropy Institute
Sandy is a published author of Fundraising Buffet, A Heaping Helping of 101 Practical Ideas to Increase Donations and Deepen Donor Satisfaction. If you are looking for a dynamic speaker, an engaging trainer or a practical, step-by-step approach to fundraising, then look no further than Sandy Rees, CFRE or check her out at GetFullyFunded.
